The Northern Uganda Filmmakers Association (NUFA) is a fully registered organization with URSB, bringing together filmmakers from the Northern Region of Uganda. Our mission revolves around film development, capacity building, promotion, and advocating for policies that drive progress in the film sector, while also making it viable to create opportunities for the broader community.
NUFA envisions transforming Northern Uganda through cinema by showcasing local stories that preserve and share the region's rich cultural heritage globally. Our work celebrates diversity and brings together all sub-regions: West Nile, Acoli, Lango, and Karamoja. The people of Northern Uganda have a deep-rooted cultural identity, with unique beliefs, customs, and artistic expressions, all of which filmmakers capture through the art of film.

The NUFA Awards 2025 marks the first edition of an exciting event that aims to celebrate and recognize filmmakers from Northern Uganda. With a theme focused on “Weaving Stories Which Connect, Preserve, and Share Our Rich Cultural Heritage Globally through Cinema”, we plan to showcase the creativity and diverse talents of our filmmakers. This inaugural event promises to be a spectacular and glamorous ceremony to honor the storytellers who are shaping the future of film in the region.

Through the NUFA Awards 2025, we aim to use film as a tool for the cultural revival of Northern Uganda. This event offers a platform for reflection, action, and unity, while showcasing the beauty, strength, and resilience of our heritage. By linking filmmakers with their communities, we hope to spark growth, development, and positive transformation within the region.
The awards gala will be a celebration of films produced by filmmakers from Northern Uganda, reflecting the region’s unique cultural narratives. This will not only promote local talent but also ensure that our stories are told to a global audience.
